Ali Zafar was born on the 18th of May, 1980 in Lahore, Pakistan. His parents Mohammad Zafarullan and Kanwal Ameen are Punjabi and were professors at the University of Punjab in Pakistan.

He was a student of the C.A.A. Public School and topped his matriculation exams from the Beaconhouse School System. He graduated from the Government College of Lahore and did Fine Arts from the National College of Arts.
This talented star has a multifaceted personality; he first showed his creativity when he drew his first comic book at the young age of 8 years, he has even worked as a scratch artist at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore.

His music career started as a singer for the Pakistani film Shararat, where he sang “Jugnuon Se Bhar Le Aanchal”. His talents as a musician, singer, composer and song writer made him bring out his first music album.
He found success with his album Huqa Panithat was released in 2003 in Pakistan and worldwide in 2005. His single “Channo” from the album became hugely popular in Pakistan and ruled the airwaves for a long time.

His second music album was Masty in 2006 followed by Jhoom in 2011. His song “Dekha” of his album Masty was heard in the the soundtrack of the big budget Hollywood film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps 2010.

By the time Jhoom album was to come out, he had already made a name for himself in the Indian music scene and YashRaj produced his last album trying to cash in on his appeal to the youth and his amazing singing talents.
Ali Zafar’s third album is considered to be different from his earlier albums as it is full of sufi and semi classical rendition of folk and sufi verses, in fusion with modern instruments. It also includes his renditions from MTV’s Coke studio and Ghazals from Mirza Ghalib. Critics have found the album to be showcase of a more mature Ali Zafar.

Ali Zafar’s chocolate good looks opened the doors for him on television as well as films. Ali started out as a television actor and was seen in Pakistani soap dramas such as Kanch Ke Par and some miniseries like Kollege Jeans.
After an aborted attempt to act in a Pakistani film, he stuck to acting in his music videos till he got the opportunity to act as the main lead in the 2010 rib tickler comedy film Tere Bin Laden that went on to garner commercial success as well as critical acclaim. This Abhishek Sharma directed film showcased Ali Zafar’s impeccable comic timing and his appeal.

After the success of his film, Ali put his music career on the slow burner and decided to continue with Bollywood. He got the chance again, when he got to act with Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif in the 2011 film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. His song from the movie ‘Madhubala’ was big hit on the airwaves.

His third Bollywood movie was the film London, Paris, New York,where he again got the chance to be the solo male lead opposite Aditi Rao Hydari. Though the film wasn’t a big commercial success, his performance in the film was appreciated by all. Ali Zafar was not only the actor for this movie, he was also the music composer, singer, lyricist, writer, arranger, programmer and recordist for his film.
Amongst the popular tracks from the album are the title track “London, Paris, New York”, “Voh Dekhnay Mein”, “Thehree Si Zindagee” and “Ting Rang”.
