Anushka Sharma is an Indian actress and former model who appears in Hindi films. She was born on May 1st, 1988. Anushka Sharma signed a three year contract with Yash Raj Films in 2008 and made her Bollywood debut opposite Shahrukh Khan in the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. After the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she starred in the film Badmaash Company. Later, Anushka received commercial success with her 3rd Yash raj film Band Baaja Baaraat opposite Ranveer Singh. She received critical acclaim for her role in this film and finished her 3 year contract with Yash Raj Films. After Band Baaja Baaraat, Anushka Sharma appeared in the film Patiala House opposite Akshay Kumar which was her first venture outside Yash Raj Films. Anushka Sharma starred in the film Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl opposite Ranveer Singh in 2011.

Anushka Sharma – Early Life

Anushka Sharma was brought up in Bangalore where she finished her schooling and graduation. But Anushka Sharma’s native place is Garhwal in Uttarakhand. Her father, Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an army officer whereas her mother Ashima Sharma is a housewife. Anushka Sharma has an elder brother named Karnesh, who was a state-level cricketer and now, is in the Merchant Navy. Anushka Sharma studied in Army School, Bangalore and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Anushka later moved to Mumbai to pursue her modelling career, which is where she currently resides.

Anushka Sharma originally wished to make it big in the modeling world and had no strong inclination towards films. She began her modeling career at the Lakme Fashion Week as a model for Wendell Rodricks’s Les Vamps Show and was picked to be Rodricks’s finale model at the Spring Summer ’07 Collection. Since then she has done campaigns for Silk & Shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio.

Anushka Sharma – Foray into Bollywood

Anushka Sharma made her Bollywood debut in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) opposite Shahrukh Khan and her performance in the film was well appreciated. The film was declared a blockbuster and recieved mainly positive reviews. In the year 2009 her second release Badmaash Company opposite Shahid Kapoor saw her in a very glamorous role for the first time and her chemistry with Shahid was called electrifying.

In the year 2010, Anushka Sharma starred in the 3rd Yash Raj Film Band Baaja Baaraat opposite Ranveer Singh which was declared a blockbuster hit.
In the film she played a middle-class Delhi-Punjabi girl who goes on to launch her own independent business of wedding planning and later falls for her partner. Anushka Sharma’s performance was praised by critics, many of whom called it her best work up to that point. She received a second Filmfare nomination for the Best Actress Award. She was nominated and won the Best Actress award at various award ceremonies.
