Salman (born Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan) has starred in morethan 80 Bollywood movies. He made his debut with a minor role in the drama Biwi Ho to AISI with Rekha in the lead role. He got his first commercial success with the blockbuster Maine PyAr Kiya which got him a Filmfare Award for best male debut. After this he had a number of successful films like Saajan, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Karan Arjun, Judwaa, PyAr Kiya to Darna Kya and Biwi No.1.

In 1999, He won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his cameo in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and then got rave reviews from his critics for this role in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. His other successful movies were Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, No Entry, Partner, Wanted, Dabangg, Ready and Bodyguard. He is one of the must successful actors in Bollywood.

He has started an NGO called ‘Being Human’ that sell T-shirts and other products online and in stores. A portion of sales go to a worthy cause to suppor the underprivileged. In 2012, He has offered to pay Rs 40 lakh for releasing around 400 prisoners from prisons in UP via his NGO. The prisoners had completed their term but due to economical reasons, they were unable to pay a legal fine for their charges.
