Deepika mixes her diet with a healthy balance of carbohydrates and proteins. She approaches her food keeping its contents in mind and so instead of starving herself, she eats smart and takes decisions regarding each dish; for instance, she would eat the dosa and leave out the potato fillings or substitute coconut chutney with a pudina chutney. Being a South Indian, she feels that her body has got used to eating rice and thus doesn’t get affected by its intake; the only precaution she takes is that she doesn’t eat rice at night.

When she is out for shoots, she prefers her own home cooked food that comprises of two rotis, sabzi, salad and raita; she has non-vegetarian dishes too, sometimes, but not for dinner. She likes to have fish that’s grilled. When she has to eat Studio food, she chooses to eat the lighter idlis.

Deepika doesn’t miss any of the three main meals and considers breakfast to be the most important meal of the day, so has a heavy one that could contain paranthas, upma, idli or dosa. She isn’t too fond of curd, but balances it by having milk and cheese. She has almonds and filter coffee to tide over her evening hunger pangs and has fresh fruits or fresh juice every two hours. Her dinner meal contains salads, roti  and sabzi.
