Madhuri Dixit has been famous for her dancing styles which have been termed as graceful. Madhuri started learning Kathak, a classical dance form at the tender age of five. Her first dance number ‘Ek Do teen’ took Madhuri to great heights and her dance became a rage. Next came the raunchy ‘Dhak Dhak’ from the film Beta and she was even called the ‘Dhak Dhak girl’ for the famous chest heaving step in the song. Both these songs were smash hits.
In fact Madhuri during those days was quoted as saying, “I hope I’m not sounding presumptuous or vain. I think like Sridevi , I was another heroine who could break the barriers between the classes and the masses.” Madhuri Dixit was one such heroine who managed to take the nation by storm and give sleepless nights to many right after Sridevi.
Though Madhuri debuted in movies like Sawti (1986) and Abodh, both mediocre films, it was Tezaab which instantly gave her the much needed recognition and which established her as an actress in Bollywood. Madhuri Dixit’s Bollywood career saw a meteoric rise after the film’s phenomenal success.

Madhuri Dixit was known not only for her dances but also for the skilfull acting in films like Ram Lakhan , Dil , Parinda , ‘Khalnayak‘. She starred opposite Salman Khan in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun , which is often called the crowning glory of her career.
