Shakti Kapoor – Father

Shraddha Kapoor is the daughter of Bollywood baddie Shakti kapoor, who played the role of a villain in films like Rocky, Qurbani, Himmatwala, Hero etc. and established himself as one of the most sought-after villains in Bollywood. Shraddha was popular in her school due to her father’s filmy imagewhich was a good feeling! Her friends used to tease her a lot. They used to tease her about his (Shakti kapoor) characters like Raja Babu, Nandu Sabka Bandu and she used to like it.

Shraddha used to accompany her dadto the sets of his films. He always played the villain. She saw him in the villain avatar and used to come find it very strange! Initially she was really confused and inquisitive about it. She would go to his set and watch him doing all kinds of things. Shraddha did not like her father playing a villain in films. She used to shout at him for doing villain roles. She used to be sad about it (playing villain). Then her parents made her understand that this is what shooting is and that her father was just acting. It was then that she found it interesting.

She loved him in comic roles. Shakti Kapoor ventured into comic roles in films like Raja Babu, Insaaf, Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri, Andaaz Apna Apna and Chaalbaaz, to name a few. ‘In real life he is very funny. To have such an actor as my father, I cannot explain what a proud feeling it is’, said Shraddha. Shraddha has grown up watching his movies!

This young bug of the family (Shraddha) gets a lot of advice from her actor dad and actress maasi (Padmini Kohlapuri). She’s proud to have a family in the film industry. Their dinner table conversations mainly revolve around films and film making. Her dad guides her on the professional front. When her first film Teen Patti didn’t do well at the box office she was upset. It was her first film and itwas very specialto her. She was quite heartbroken but then her dad made her understand that it is a part and parcel of acting- success and failures come and go and you have to brush it off. Then she got Luv Ka the End which was one of the greatest experiences of her life!

Shraddha with father Shakti Kapoor

Shraddha is set for her first item number in Karan Johar’s Ungli, starring actors Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Kangna Ranaut and Sanjay Dutt. Actor – father Shakti Kapoor describes the song as a delicate kid’s number and not the regular item song. ‘It is not an item song like Dhak dhak or anything’, said Mr. Kapoor. It’s an amazing song and he would definitely watch the song like any other item number!

The Mumbaichi mulgi (Shradhha) loved her dad’s clothes as they had a lot of glitter in them. While her dad was comfortable with her being an actor, the only thing he said no was to her becoming an air hostess!

Shakti Kapoor was already doing well before Shraddha was born, but she was the lucky mascot in his life as he did even better after she was born, said the Aashiqui 2 actress! Shraddha is spoilt as her father had given her an expensive car even though she would have liked to have bought her own car. Her dad wants to constantly pamper her and she has a constant friction with her parents on that, as she would like to make it on her own!Her dad is protective at a personal level, but professionally he gives her all the space. Now with her third film, her dad lets her be a bit on her own. ‘Dad is jovial and is good to hang out with and exuberates positive energy but he doesn’t listen to me even though I keep on telling him things like his mom’, said Shraddha.

Shraddha is very close to her father. He is a bit strict but protective. But she shares a great comfort level with her dad and can tell him anything – like if she has a crush on someone or somebody likes her etc. Her father gave her only one advice — Concentrate on your work and work hard. And darling daughter Shraddha seems to follow his advice!

Shivangi Kapoor – Mother

Shraddha’s mother Shivangi (nee Kolhapure) Kapoor is a Maharashtrian. While her (Shraddha) father has acted in over 700 films, her mother has acted in only one film, Kismat, opposite actor Mithun Chakraborty, in which her father also had a role. Shraddha’s father fell in love with her mother and would drive her around in his sports car. They subsequently got married.

Her mom is the most beautiful woman and she must have taken some serum to look young all her life, said Shraddha. Both her mother’s younger sisters, Padmini and Tejaswini are actresses!

Shraddhas’s mother is her best friend and she is most attached to her. She looked after her (Shraddha) and used to be around her when her dad was working. Mrs. Kapoor always made (Shraddha) her feel that she could tell her anything from a very young age. Shraddha and her mom converse in Marathi when they don’t want her dad (Shakti Kapoor) to understand what they are talking about!

Shraddha Kapoor was recently seen with her mom at the P&G Thank you Mom campaign celebrating Mothers Day. Shraddha was seen strumming the guitar and having a gala time with the other celebs including Tannu weds Mannu actress Kangna Ranaut who also attended the event with her mom.

Siddhant Kapoor – Brother

Siddhanth Kapoor, brother of Shraddha Kapoor, began his career as a Disk Jockey. He later started working as an assistant director under Priyadarshan in films such as Bhool Bhulaiya, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke and Dhol. He also assisted director Anurag Kashap in the movie Ugly and made a cameo appearance in the film as well.He has given a bare-body scene in Ugly, a psychological thriller. The film also stars Ronit Roy, Girish Kulkarni and Tejaswini Kolhapure. It is currently slated for an October release.

He was initially supposed to make his debut in Soham Shah’s 2012 flick Satte Pe Sattawhich is a remake of the original 1982 Raj N. Sippy directed Satte Pe Satta, but the film was shelved. Siddhant marked his entry into filmdom in 2013 with the movie Shootout at Wadala, also starring actors John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut and Anil Kapoor. He has also worked as an assistant director for Shootout at Wadala.

Shraddha Kapoor seems to have already learned how to throw starry tantrums! She rejected handsome hunk John Abraham’s next film Welcome back as she does not want to work with older actors. Apparently John Abraham is very miffed with Shraddha because of this. Looks like John cannot understand why an actress who is one – hit-old is making a big deal about not working with ‘older heroes’.

And who is she to turn down a film with John! Interestingly, Shraddha’s bro Siddhant shares a very good rapport with John Abraham. He also worked with John in Shootout at Wadala. Rumour has it that Siddhant tried to call John to say sorry on his sis Shraddha’s behalf. He made dozens of calls to John, but he seems to have ignored the calls!

Shraddha’s parents were over the moon about Aashiqui 2. But the happiest one was her brother! ’Siddhant Bhaiyya himself made his debut with Shootout at Wadala. He was excited about my film while I was nervous and excited about his debut’, said Shraddha.

Siddhanth could not manage to watch his sister’s first hit film as he was busy with his project and promotions. But Shraddha made it a point to attend a special screening of her brother’s film. She was blown away by her rockstar brother`s fiery onscreen presence. Siddhanth had apparently been feeling a tad guilty because everyone appreciated his sister’s performance in the film but he missed it!
