Sonam Kapoor is an Indian film actress who appears in Bollywood films. Sonam Kapoor made her acting debut in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali  film Saawariya opposite newcomer Ranbir Kapoor, which earned her a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She earned her first commercial success in I Hate Luv Storys opposite Imran Khan. Other Bollywood films she has appeared in include Delhi-6, Aisha and the multistarrer Thank You. Sonam Kapoor was recently seen in the romance film Mausam alongside Shahid Kapoor.

Sonam Kapoor is the daughter of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and niece of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and actress Sridevi. Sonam is a girl with varied interests like reading, shopping, playing squash, video games and painting. Sonam in fact was never interested in acting. Direction and writing were more of her interests. One of the few star children, Sonam Kapoor started life with a good education and firm grounding in the process of film making. After completing her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir and receiving International Baccalaureate from the United World College of South East Asia, she started her career in the film industry by assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of Black (2005).

Later in 2007, Sonam Kapoor made her Bollywood debut opposite another debutante actor Ranbir Kapoor in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Saawariya in 2007. After starring a series of movies, Sonam Kapoor will be seen next in the film Players, which is a remake of the Hollywood film, The Italian Job.
