Mr Bachchan is undoubtedly one of Bollywood’s icons and it is thus because of him that his houses have taken on the stature of important Mumbai Landmarks; a place of pilgrimage for all Amitabh fans and well wishers as well as the curious who are interested to see where he lives.
Pratiksha’s Lovely Lawn
Abhishek was wed to Aishwarya in ‘Pratiksha’ and Abhishek went on horseback from ‘Jalsa’ to ‘Pratiksha’ to be married.
In October, when a pregnant Aishwarya had a Godhbharai ceremony in Jalsa, the media surrounding Mr Bachchan’s bungalow caught pictures of famous celebrities, who had come to bless Aishwarya, on camera. Glimpsed outside the Bachchan residence were actors like Twinkle Khanna, Sonali Bendre, Urmila Matondkar, Asha Parekh and Neetu Kapoor to name a few.
Recently, Aishwarya gave birth a baby girl which became national and international news. Grandad Amitabh who is an active twitter user tweeted ” I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl.”

Amitabh owns two houses – Jalsa and Pratiksha. He also has an office building ‘Janak’ which reportedly has a gym that is regularly used by him. His three buildings are at a convenient walking distance from each other in Juhu, Mumbai.

When Aishwarya-Abhishek got married in April 2007, the media was not allowed inside to cover the wedding and so there are no photos of that event.
‘Pratiksha’ was the original residence of the Bachchans’, and it was here that Amitabh lived with his parents, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan and his own family of Jaya, Shweta and Abhishek, for nearly 40 years. They later moved together to ‘Jalsa’. Despite rumours that that Abhishek and his wife would be living separately, the couple happily continue to live with his parents, along with the latest addition in their family, their daughter, Aaradhya. Jalsa is a large 10,125 sq ft double storied lovely house. His pet Shanouk, a Piranha Dane Dog also lives with them at Jalsa.

A few days prior to the baby’s birth, Jalsa was alive with celebration as relatives and friends started arriving for the Big Day. Even in his tweet Amitabh mentioned about how there was a lot of joy and celebration surrounding ‘Jalsa’. Even ‘Pratiksha’ was thronging with activity.

Reportedly, ‘Jalsa’ was a gift for Amitabh from his director of the 1982 film Satte Pe Satta, Ramesh Sippy as payment.

Amitabh and his family continue to be emotionally attached to ‘Pratiksha’ and they regularly visit the family temple built there by his father. Reportedly, he has kept his parents’ rooms as they were when they were alive.
