Urvashi Dholakia was born in 1979 to Gujarati and Punjabi parents. She is a diploma holder from Nalanda University in Bharat Natyam. Her love for the performing arts and acting in particular made her debut at the very young age of six in the TV serial by Shri Adhikari Brothers’ (SAB) called Waqt Ki Raftar. She continued to act in a few serials and films when she was still a child. Her first major role at the age of 14 years, was for the popular TV comedy serial Dekh Bhai Dekh, where she played the love interest of actor Vishal Singh.
Her other TV soap operas include Zamana Badal Gaya, Mehndi Tere Naam Ki , Ghar Ek Mandir and Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli. But, it was in 2001 when she got the chance to play the character of Komolika Basu in Ekta Kapoor’s STAR PLUS TV soap opera Kasautii Zindagii Kay, did she capture national attention for her brilliant portrayal of a scheming, manipulative and cruel bahu or daughter-in-law. Soon her character became the focal point of the TV serial and her costume of strappy blouses, sarees as well as the elaborate bindis became a much discussed topic by TV audiences. This role fetched her many Best Actor, Best Vamp/Villain, Best Negative Character awards at various TV award ceremonies and forums and the serial went on to become one of the longest running and popular TV serials in India. She even played her Komolika character for a TV commercial for Shahrukh Khan’s IPL venture Kolkata Knight Riders in 2010. Kasautii Zindagii Kay ran till 2008 after which Urvashi did a negative role in another TV serial Bayttaab Dil Kee Tamanna Hai, in 2009.

Urvashi has participated in other TV reality shows before Bigg Boss 6, including Comedy Circus 1in 2007, Ustaadon Ka Ustaad in 2008 on Sony TV with Pakistani comedian Shakeel Siddiqui and the controversial Sacch Ka Saamna in 2009, where her revelations created a lot of buzz. Urvashi also appeared for the celebrity reality show Meethi Chhoorii on NDTV Imagine, in 2010.

Besides acting in films at a very young age, in 2007 Urvashi acted in the Bhojpuri Brij Bhushan directed film Saans Rani Bahu Naukrani that was produced by her mother. She has also done an item number in the film Mudda but doesn’t feel ready for films, as yet.

Urvashi was married when she was just a teenager at 16 years of age, and had twin sons a year later. By the time she was 19 years old, she was already divorced and was a single parent of two boys. Her sons are presently studying in a boarding school. The media does not know Urvashi Dholakia husband name.
