Vidya Balan started her career in full swing in her 30’s. Though she was there in the industry for a very long time and was doing small jigs in serials and music videos, the actor got her first movie after a long halt. Her grace and potential was first recognized by Pradeep Sarkar. Vidya Balan is a very fine actress and her acting skills are in her blood which he inherits from her father P. R. Balan, who is involved with the entertainment industry. The very talented Vidya started her acting career at a very early age.
Born in the year 1978 on 1st January in Palghat, Kerala to P.R.Balan and Saraswathy Balan, Vidya had a very secure and calm childhood. Being born into a tamil family Vidya had a very traditional environment at home. Her father P.R.Balan worked as a executive president with ETC, and her mother was a home maker. She has an elder sister Priya, with whom she shares a very beautiful connection with. They are more of friends than sisters as known to people. Vidya also had a very strong bonding with her father who inspired her to pursue her career in the Television and Film industry.
Vidya Balan grew up under the tutelage of educated parents and hence her studies were a very important part in her career. Vidya spoke Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Bengali at home. Her Bengali connection comes from her mother. The Balans moved to Mumbai when Vidya was a kid, they had a very quiet life style at Chembur, Mumbai. She did her schooling from St. Anthony Convent School, after which she joined St. Xaviers College and finally pursued a Master’s degree in sociology from the University of Mumbai. Vidya also secured a degree in Arts and learnt acting skills from Prithvi Theatres, Mumbai. Due to her strong connection with the Tamil culture she learnt Carnatic dance when she was a child, along with her elder sister.
She, Vidya, since her childhood wanted to be an actress, but her vital stats did not favor her in becoming one. Vidya was more of a tomboy in her early days and was significantly over weight. After a certain point in her life she realized that if she wanted to make it big in the glamour world she would have to work a lot towards her outer appearance.
Vidya Balan’s journey to Bollywood is quite a hectic and lengthy one. Before she acquired one of the most enviable positions in the industry as a top heroine she endured a lot of struggle. The smooth success of the actress that she enjoys now didn’t come easy. Though Vidya had a probable link with the media and industry she still had to work real hard in order to carve a niche for herself. Because of her broad frame she did not get much of a welcome in Hindi Film industry where size zeroes are considered the norm. These commercials made her a popular face with the industry and she managed to bag roles in music videos with Euphoria, Pankaj Udhas and Shubha Mudgal. Vidya was an ardent fan of Shahrukh Khan. After doing these small times ads and videos she got her first stable role in a popular television comedy “Hum Paanch” which used to telecast in Zee TV. This television serial changed her life and she got onto a track where her dreams weren’t too far. After this, she was offered another television serial called “Hanste Khelte”.
Before Vidya Balan did “Parineeta” she did a Bengali movie called “Bhalo Theko” which was a good hit with the native audience and her performance was also liked. Vidya went on to bagging the award of Best Debutant for her outstanding performance in Parineeta. Vidya Balan’s kiss with Saif Ali Khan in this movie also made quite a stir in the industry. There was no hindrance to this fire brand actress after the success of her first movie, she later on acted in Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Salaam-e-ishq, Heyy Baby, Eklavya, and Bhool Bhulayia. All these movies did good business as block busters and this made Vidya a dependable actress in the industry circuit.
Vidya Balan’s kiss venture was carried onto her next few films as well. She was hailed as one of the few bold actresses in the industry. Vidya Balan’s kiss went on to affect the director of her hit movie Ishqiya in which she smooched Arshad Warsi and yester year actor Naseeruddin Shah. This was quite a bold step for an actress but her gesture wasn’t considered as vulgar or cheap as this actress is a complete dedicated and hard worker. She tries to give her 100% in whichever role she gets to play. Vidya Balan made her place absolutely secure in the industry with four hard hitting movies which she did after 2010; No One Killed Jessica, Paa and The Dirty Picture.
Vidya Balan’s kiss continued in the film The Dirty Picture, where she locked lips with Emraan Hashmi another serial kisser of Bollywood. After the success of Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan got to play the role of an estranged pregnant woman in Kahaani, and this was by far her best portrayal of a character in her career. Vidya won many awards for this character and turned out to be a director’s dream actress. Vidya Balan’s kissing spree took a halt last year when she married producer Siddharth Roy Kapoor. She was criticized for her dressing sense and weight in a very terrible manner, but action speaks louder than words, Vidya made this proverb true by becoming a power house performer and all her critics took a backseat. Adding more to her crowning glory is her improved dressing sense where she dons Sarees along the likes of Rekha and has been much appreciated ever since.
